Primary Duties:

If unable to fill at the Engineer III level, will consider applicants at the Engineer I/II level. Applicants are required to have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

Job location is 1500 Highway 2.

Research and document project development data to identify flood impacts, survey requirements and hydraulic information necessary to evaluate structures in floodplains. Perform hydrologic analysis at bridge sites. Assemble and analyze hydrologic parameters to develop flood frequency data that is used for defining bridge design requirements. Analyze floodplains to define structure size requirements, identify bridge design parameters, set road grades across the floodplains, assess environmental impacts and requirements for channel countermeasures. Utilize both one dimensional and two dimensional river flow software to analyze floodplains and flow needed for bridge design. Field inspect structures to assess hydraulic adequacy, scour, floods, channel geomorphology, floodplain characteristics, maintenance requirements, wetland impacts and survey adequacy. Prepare preliminary bridge and final box culvert data plans utilizing CAD software. Review hydrology and hydraulics of needed local/county bridge design projects. Some travel.

REQUIREMENTS: Professional experience in an engineering field applicable to the employing agency, AND Must possess a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license at the time of application, and be licensed by the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects at the time of employment or be able to obtain such license within 90 days of employment.

SPECIAL NOTE: If unable to fill at the Engineer III level, will consider applicants at the Engineer I/II level, (Engineer I level pay rate, 24.339). Applicants are required to have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Possession of a FE Certificate is required OR the ability to obtain one within one year of employment and applicants will also be expected to pursue their professional engineer's license at the first available opportunity.

PREFFERED: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering. Engineering degrees must be from an ABET-accredited program.

OTHER: A valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation is required. Must be able to travel statewide with possibility of occasional overnight stay.
