EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Under close supervision of a Professional Engineer, will assist in the design of roadway construction projects. Will be responsible for assisting in the review of work of a broad scope, complexity, and diversity. Designs horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, roadway cross sections and other design features. Prepares preliminary and final construction project plans. Participates in and documents engineering decisions, writes special provisions and keeps project correspondence files accurate and up to date. Prepares for and participates in project meetings including plan in hand, public information, public hearing, pre-appraisal and pre-construction meetings. Prepares for and participates in project field inspections.

REQUIREMENTS: Must be a three-fourths student in good standing majoring in a discipline or field related to the work to be assigned.

PREFERRED: A second semester sophomore majoring in Civil Engineering with experience in the use of Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).

OTHER: Applicants must be at least a three fourths time student majoring in engineering or related field and be able to work at least 12 hours a week when classes are in session, 16 hours a week preferred. Temporary full time employment may be available during scheduled school breaks. Employment up to 2080 hours or four years, whichever comes first. If employed to 2080 hours, student must take a 30 day break before returning to work.

Skills:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Effective communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Basic knowledge of Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD).
