Primary Duties:

Description (Lincoln, NE)
This is temporary employment for up to 12 months. Working hours for this position are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Examples of Work
Mow, water, fertilize, perform weed control to lawns and surrounding areas, rake leaves, remove debris/mulch from lawns, flower beds, and surrounding areas. Plant, transplant, prune, trim, and spray plants. Trim hedges, weed flowerbeds, and prepare soils for planting. Maintain underground sprinkler systems including repairing broken sprinkler lines and replacing sprinkler heads, risers, and valves. Perform minor/preventative maintenance on grounds equipment. Remove ice and snow from sidewalks, streets, and grounds using power tools, shovel, and snow removal equipment. Perform minor pavement preservation methods. Will be required to safely move, drag, lift, load and unload various heavy equipment, materials and supplies including cement, fertilizer bags, etc., with or without assistance. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills:

REQUIREMENTS: No specific experience or education is required for this class.

PREFERRED: Prior groundskeeping experience. Experience maintaining annual and perennial flower beds.

OTHER: Valid driver's license. Regular and reliable attendance.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Effective communication skills are required to perform the essential functions of the job. Must be able to report to work within 45 minutes under normal driving conditions to perform snow removal duties and any other emergency situations. Must be able to safely move, drag, lift, load, and unload various objects, equipment, materials and supplies, with or without assistance. Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, and work in outdoor temperature extremes.
