Businesses with five or fewer employees may qualify for a maximum $10,000 tax credit. The Nebraska Microenterprise Tax Credit provides 20% refundable investment tax credits to qualifying microbusinesses on new investment.  If you are planning an investment in 2008 or later, start planning NOW for this opportunity! Happy New Year! Welcome to the first, inaugural edition of the Holt County Economic Development newsletter. This newsletter will be designed to keep you up-to-date on the latest projects and news throughout Holt County as well as valuable information for your business.

Two Reports With Valuable Data On Holt County Available

 
Holt CountyThe latest Trend Study for Holt County is now available. The study, prepared by Nebraska Public Power District, provides data on labor force, employment, commuting patterns, population, migration, retail sales and income for the county. 
  The second report available is the Business Retention and Expansion report compiled by Nebraska Department of Economic Development. Early last summer, business visitation teams were organized by Holt County Economic Development, Central Nebraska Economic Development District, Nebraska Department of Economic Development and Nebraska Economic Development Association to collect the views on the strenths and challenges of the area's economy as well as to learn more about the needs of individual operations.
  Both reports can be obtained at the Holt County Economic Development office or they are available online at www.holtcountynebraska.com

HCED Receives $25,000 To Bolster New & Existing Businesses

Holt County Economic Development has received a $25,000 grant to help existing business owners grow their companies and support entrepreneurs by establishing a network of resource professionals.
   The grant, sponsored by Tri County Bank, is funded through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka's Joint Opportunities for Building Success (JOBS) program, which helps financial institutions throughout Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, and Oklahoma promote jobs and economic growth in their communities. The Tri-County Bank has access to the JOBS grant program through its membership in FHLBank.
   HCED's program will provide one-on-one assistance and regular business visitations, strategies for business start-ups, development of a network of local professionals and a business coaching program.
   "The key to rural busines development is establishing a level of trust and initating mentoring relationships between business owners and community leadership who want our businesses to grow," said Jon D. Schmaderer, President of Tri-County Bank.
